  • Senior Research Analyst

The Ministry of Education is committed to a fully inclusive education system. We aim to make a positive difference for all students with special education needs. The Research and Evaluation Team is looking for a Senior Research Analyst – a person who will take responsibility for co-ordinating a portfolio of research and evaluation related to special education. The role is varied and involves providing research and evaluation guidance to Ministry staff, commissioning studies, undertaking research and evaluation projects and staying abreast of the latest New Zealand and international research on good practice. You will have research and evaluation experience, sound quantitative and qualitative skills, and you are ideally familiar with the education and/or public sector environment. You will have strong analytical skills and an ability to communicate technical information with a range of audiences.

  • Principal or Senior Research Analyst

Are you interested in educational measurement? Do you have expertise in statistical analysis? At the Ministry of Education we are committed to improving our understanding of what works in lifting achievement for all learners. Research plays a vital role in building the evidence base. In our work, the focus is particularly on education’s priority learners – Māori, Pasifika, learners with special education needs and students from low socio-economic backgrounds. The Research and Evaluation Team wants to strengthen its capacity to analyse student achievement data. Educational measurement is a specialised field and this is an opportunity for an experienced quantitative analyst to grow into a leadership role. We are looking for an experienced researcher, with a strong quantitative background and proven analytical skills. You will be interested in primary school student achievement and willing to work your way through some complex analytical issues. You will have sound relationship management skills and the ability to communicate complex technical data to a broad audience.
