This is the ‘first cut’ report of a large quantitative and qualitative study of over 1000 grandparents or other kin in Aotearoa who have their grandchildren living with them. The study provides detailed analysis of the families, how the child came into grandparent care, the needs of the children, the income, health and well being of the grandparents, housing and other issues.
